- When: You use it at the beginning of the lesson.
- Extra Benefit: It creates a fun and friendly atmosphere.
How to Use a Hello Song in Music Lessons: How Do I Choose One?
Which one should I sing?
- There are many hello songs, but you’ll choose one that’s good for your vocal range with a fun melody and lyrics that welcomes the student to the lesson.
- Also, your student’s age makes a difference.
- For example, Kiboomers has a good version for preschool children.

Alternatively, the music therapist Pamela Ott sings the following hello lyrics over the first section of the tune Good Night Ladies:
Hello [child’s name] x3
How are you today?
Since there is a second section (“merrily we roll along”), I added these additional hello lyrics:

Playing all day long
This works well one-on-one with kids, or if you’re accompanying yourself with piano or guitar while singing. When singing the above hello lyrics for younger students, I usually play the ukulele, because little kids like little instruments.
